MEP Quantity Surveyor Data Centre Construction – Milan, Italy Key Responsibilities Requirements In Return, Our Client Offers This is a prime opportunity to join a leading contractor’s commercial team and contribute to the successful delivery of a technically complex, high-value data centre project in Europe.
Our client is a leading specialist data centre main contractor delivering full turnkey solutions across Europe, including civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, and commissioning works.
With group turnover exceeding €1.5bn and a secured order book for the next three years, they continue to expand across large-scale, mission-critical projects in Europe.
Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced MEP Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team on a major data centre development in Milan, Italy.
The MEP Quantity Surveyor will manage the commercial aspects of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing works, ensuring financial control, contract compliance, and value optimisation throughout the project lifecycle.
• Manage the commercial delivery of MEP packages from procurement through to final account.
• Prepare, review, and negotiate subcontract packages, including scope definition and pricing analysis.
• Monitor subcontractor performance against budget, programme, and quality requirements.
• Assess and process interim valuations, variations, and final accounts.
• Identify, evaluate, and manage change control procedures in line with contract obligations.
• Prepare cost reports, forecasts, and financial updates for senior management.
• Support procurement activities, including tender analysis, subcontractor selection, and cost benchmarking.
• Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, risk management procedures, and internal QA/QC standards.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and site teams to ensure accurate cost capture and reporting.
• Assist in the preparation and resolution of claims and commercial disputes where required.
• Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or related discipline.
• Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in a Quantity Surveyor role on large-scale construction projects.
• Previous experience managing MEP packages on data centre, pharmaceutical, or other mission-critical projects is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of construction contracts, cost control processes, and commercial management principles.
• Proven experience in subcontract procurement, valuations, and variation management.
• Strong analytical and numerical skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and commercial management software platforms.
